Nearly two years ago, the San Francisco 49ers and state environmental officials launched a campaign create a specialized California license plate sporting the team’s logo.The idea was to boost the famed football franchise’s image, and use most of the proceeds to help fund programs at California’s state parks system, similar to the way that other license plates raise money for Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, veterans programs and other causes.But now, with less than five months until a make-or-break deadline, the team that has racked up a 1st place record on the field this season is looking for a Hail Mary from its fans.Under state law, motorists must pre-purchase 7,500 orders for any specialty license plate before the California Department of Motor Vehicles will agree to print it. Walnut Creek restaurant closed temporarily due to rodent droppings

A wild weekend of weather is in store for Northern California beginning Saturday, as light rain could grace the Bay Area alongside near-freezing overnight temperatures and large waves, while heavy snow forces a warning against travel through the Sierra Nevada region.The cold front was forecast to slide down from the North Bay to the rest of the Bay Area in the early afternoon Saturday, with a light but steady rain band expected to pass through by the evening hours.Rain totals weren’t predicted to rise further than one-quarter of an inch in the population centers of San Jose, Oakland, Walnut Creek and San Francisco. SUNNYVALE — A real estate titan that had teamed up with Google former Google development ally has decided to trim dozens of jobs in the Bay Area, fresh evidence of the ongoing real estate slowdown in the region.Lendlease has revealed plans to cut 57 jobs in the Bay Area, according to official notices filed with the state Employment Development Department.The job cuts affect 56 workers in Sunnyvale and one in San Francisco. Moraga murder-suicide victim identified

(KRON) -- A Moraga husband and wife who died in a suspected murder-suicide were identified on Friday. Moraga Police Chief Jon King said the deceased couple was identified as Brad Triebsch, 60, and Rebekah Triebsch, 59.Autopsies conducted on Thursday by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office concluded that the Triebsch's deaths were caused by gunshot wounds. Investigators did not say who killed who.Officers found Brad and Rebekah Triebsch's bodies shortly before 5 p.m. on January 3 inside their home on Southard Court, King said. Officers had been alerted by someone who said they were unable to contact their parents. A neighbor also notified police that they were concerned for the couple's wellbeing.
