A Massachusetts State Police trooper shot and killed a man Saturday morning during a “confrontation” after police were called to a residence in Hancock for a report of a domestic incident, authorities said.A state police trooper arrived at a residence on Richmond Road around 7 a.m. and encountered an adult male armed with a weapon, according to state police and the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.“Initial investigations indicate that when the officer arrived an individual armed with a weapon approached and would not back down following requests to stop resulting in the officer discharging his weapon,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement.CPR was performed on scene, a county ambulance responded, and the individual was pronounced dead, authorities said.State police previously identified the person killed by law enforcement as an adult male.The district attorney’s office did not say what weapon the man was armed with.The district attorney’s office ...

ELK GROVE VILLAGE Ill. — Authorities are investigating a plane crash in Ned Brown Preserve, popularly known as Busse Woods, in Elk Grove Village on Friday evening.According to the FAA, a twin-engine Beechcraft BE20 crashed in a wooded part of Busse Woods around 7:15 p.m. on Friday.Police say the smaller corporate plane crashed in the forest preserve and added that the pilot of the plane was able to walk away from the crash.On Saturday, the Cook County Forest Preserve said approval has been given to start removing the aircraft from the woods.Crews are working to have this done by Sunday. While crews are working, nearby trails will be closed.Currently, it is unclear what led to the crash or if anyone else was on board at the time.The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
