LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Jazz returns to Lake George this September. In honor of the annual "Jazz at the Lake" music weekend, a special exhibition is bringing the spirit of live music to the village's local art gallery. "Jazz at the Lake: A Graphic Design Retrospective" opens at the Lake George Arts Project Courthouse Gallery on Wednesday, Aug. 23, running until Saturday, Sept, 23. The exhibition features graphic design artwork that has been used to advertise the annual series year by year. The art accompanying each year's Jazz at the Lake series has been a creation of Gruskin Creative and founder Ken Gruskin. The exhibition will be the subject of a special gallery reception from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14. It runs in honor of artist and writer Paul Pines. Hoosick Falls man sentenced to 12 years for possessing child pornography

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A former Hoosick Falls resident was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Friday for possessing and receiving over 6,100 images of child pornography. According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Hines admitted that from December 2016 through January 2017, he downloaded child pornography from a website, which depicted the rape of a toddler, adults performing oral sex and using sexual devices upon pre-pubescent children, and images and videos depicting an underaged former girlfriend. Hines faces a 15-year term of post-release supervision and is ordered to forfeit his phone, laptop, and external hard drives that he used to store the images. Hines will also have to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Glens Falls Police Department announced they are investigating a shooting that took place on August 13. On August 13 at 3:33 a.m., police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Maple Street and Culvert Street. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that at least two shots had been fired in the area after locating shell casings on Maple Street. Police stated they have identified and interviewed multiple people involved in the incident, and it was discovered that there were non-life threatening injuries sustained in the shooting. (NEWS10) -- Coaches, athletes and local law enforcement from across the Capital Region spent their day at Dunkin raising money for Special Olympics New York. The annual “Go for the Gold” event supports nearly 4,000 local athletes while raising awareness for the programs that help support them. Chris Hughes, Director of Development and Impact, said all the donations go towards equipment, training and travel for every athlete that participates in the Special Olympics. Man charged in St. John machete fight

ST. JOHN -- A man is facing felony charges for cutting another man with a machete during a fight on August 7, 2023. Deangelo Ford, 46, is being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond.Police say the victim has a small cut to his nipple. A machete was found nearby by officers. Ford says that the victim lunged onto the knife.If convicted, Ford could face a few years to three decades in prison.

“Serious” crash closes eastbound I-70 at Silverthorne

A “serious” accident on eastbound Interstate 70 on approach to the Eisenhower tunnel has closed down that direction of the highway Friday morning, forcing motorists to detour around the crash by using U.S. 6.The Colorado Department of Transportation posted a warning on its website Friday saying that eastbound motorists must exit I-70 at Silverthorne to take the detour over Loveland Pass.The agency expects the crash to be cleared and the highway reopened by mid-day.
